UPDATE:
The Flagstaff Police Department is investigating a collision involving a train and pedestrian in the downtown area of Flagstaff near W. Route 66 and S. Beaver Street. A male was struck by a train and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
At approximately 4:26 AM, Flagstaff Police Officers responded to the intersection of W. Route 66 and S. Beaver St regarding a report of a male struck by the train. Responding officers arrived and located the male decedent, identified as Jake Hoyungowa. The train was eastbound when the Engineer saw Mr. Hoyungowa squatting in the middle of the railroad tracks facing away from the train and covering his ears as the train approached. The train was unable to stop and stuck Mr. Hoyungowa.

At around 4:15 am, a BNSF train employee called Flagstaff 911 saying a pedestrian had just been hit by the train between San Francisco and Beaver.
