Update to accident on Elden Lookout Rd requiring helicopter extraction

OFFICIAL UPDATE FROM SUMMIT FD: This evening Summit Fire, Flag Fire, CCSO, Search and rescue, DPS and GMT had a multi patient rollover. One patient was short hauled out by DPS ranger helicopter in critical condition. The others with minor injuries were transported to FMC. FINAL UPDATE 6:40pm: CCSO is starting to open Mt. Elden Lookout Road, with traffic control while emergency vehicles are turned around and cleared from the scene.

UPDATE 6:00pm: DPS Ranger helicopter is en route to this single vehicle rollover. No patients were trapped in the vehicle, however three patients were located down hill from the scene. Technical Rescue crews and Ranger to assist with these patients.

UPDATE 5:20pm: Fire asking CCSO to close down Mt. Elden Lookout Road in both directions due to traffic and congestion issues.

UPDATE: Fire on scene confirming four injuries. It’s reportedly a jeep that has fallen 20-yards. Two patients may be stuck inside the vehicle, and one possible ejection. Technical rescue has been requested due to the steep terrain. Additional ambulances have been requested to stage.

CCSO and fire are responding to a reported single vehicle accident on Mt. Elden Lookout Road near forest service road 557 for an accident with injuries. Initial reports are four injured persons. The vehicle is on a steep incline and a search and rescue car has been dispatched.
