UPDATE: suspect Pearsall turned himself in and was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center – He has since been released on a $20,000 bond

A $50,000 warrant charging Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon has been issued for Robert David Pearsall, 41-years-old, 5’11”,160, bald/ blond hair, green eyes, a resident of Prescott.

On 9/8/18 at approximately 9 PM, at a Verde River camp site in the Drake area, a 45-year-old male victim was approached by Pearsall who, in an unprovoked manner and without warning, struck the victim about the head, face, and chest multiple times with a hardened piece of wood. The strikes caused severe swelling, laceration and blood loss to the head and face of the victim. The blows were hard enough to break and splinter the wood used by Pearsall in the assault. Pearsall fled the scene after being confronted by witnesses.

The victim was transported first by vehicle from the campsite to Drake and HWY 89 while he was in and out of consciousness during the 20 minute drive. He was eventually airlifted to Flagstaff  Medical Center with serious injuries and continues treatment. The motive for the attack is unclear at this time.

A search for Pearsall is ongoing, but his whereabouts are unknown. Detectives believe Pearsall knows he is wanted and is trying to avoid contact. If anyone has information as to Pearsall’s location, please contact the Sheriff’s Office at 928-771-3260 or Yavapai Silent Witness at 1800-932-3232. A direct tip to Silent Witness leading to Pearsall’s arrest is eligible for a cash reward. If you see the suspect, call 911.

  1. Victim witness services will likely step in and help out on this one. They have the added benefit of knowing who the suspect is so they will likely front the expenses for any medical bills and ensure the courts fine him for all damages.
