Alleged kidnapping sends Flagstaff Police on massive search

September 26th, 2016 at 8:15 PM

Monday night at around 6:45 pm, Flagstaff police responded to a reported kidnapping in the 200 block of High Country Trail. A 911 call came in from a concerned Father who said his young daughter (and another child) had witnessed an male grab a young girl between the ages of 3 and 5, and shove her into the trunk of a white car and leave. Officers immediately blanketed the area and began a door to door search and investigation. DPS, CCSO, and NAU police were also called to assist.

Multiple agencies canvased the entire city and surrounding areas for nearly an hour. Officers located a man that matched the description given to them by the child. The man said he picked up his kids earlier from the park, and placed their bicycles into his car trunk. The child positively identified the man and the situation was resolved. No child was taken or harmed. Authorities determined the entire incident was a false alarm.
