Per ADOT and the Arizona Department of Public Safety, there is a full closure On Interstate 17, South-bound from mile post 317, 6.0 miles South of PINEWOOD, 20 miles south of FLAGSTAFF due to a police situation. POLICE RADIO TRANSMISSION RECORDINGS:
UPDATE 1: State Troopers were engaged in a high speed pursuit of a car jacking suspect. The suspect fired multiple shots at officers. This closure is related. More information to follow, along with police recordings.
UPDATE 2: Suspect vehicle exceeded speeds of 100 mph before going into wrong way traffic. Suspect at that point crashed head on with a semi truck at mile post 307.
UPDATE 3: YCSO Sheriff’s Deputies have shot the suspect according to radio transmissions. This has NOT been officially confirmed by the Department.
