Breaking: Road Rage Shooting in Flagstaff Neighborhood

UPDATE 10/5: FLAGSTAFF, AZ (October 5, 2017): The Flagstaff Police Department has arrested, William Frost,  69 years of age of Flagstaff, AZ for shooting William Cummings, 21 years of age, of Flagstaff, AZ on October 3, 2017 in the Railroad Springs neighborhood on Northwestern Street.

On October 3, 2017 at approximately 4:30 PM Officers with the Flagstaff Police Department responded to Northwestern St. in Railroad Springs in reference to a report of a shooting that stemmed from a road rage type altercation. Upon arrival Officers learned that William Cummings was shot during an altercation at that location. Officers obtained a suspect description and attempted to locate the suspect who was described as a white male approximately 60 to 70 years old. He was further described as a proximally 5’8″ tall and 180 pounds with gray hair and possibly a goatee. He was last seen driving a black Toyota Tacoma with an Arizona License Plate.

Officers and investigators continued to follow up on leads and learned a suspect matching the description lived in the area. They identified William Frost as a potential suspect in the case. Detectives developed a photographic line-up and presented it to witnesses. William Frost was identified as the suspect by the victim. An arrest warrant and a search warrant were obtained.

On October 5, 2017 William Frost was arrested for aggravated assault and booked into Coconino County Jail.;

ORIGINAL FLAGSCANNER POST: At 4:30 P.M. this afternoon, Flagstaff Police and Medics responded to a residence in the 2500 block of West Cripple Creek (Railroad Springs neighborhood) for a person who was shot in the face by another individual. The suspect was described as an older Caucasian male with grey hair that fled the scene in a green or black Toyota Tacoma wearing a black shirt and blue jeans. This is a developing story and the scene is still active. This post will auto update every 3 minutes. Stay tuned for updates.

UPDATE: The actual shooting scene is about a block away near Northwestern St. Updated suspect description is a white male between 60 and 70 years of age wearing a BLACK shirt and jeans. He has white hair and beard. Incident is a result of possible road rage. Victim was shot in the face, but was alert and responsive. Victim stated the suspect almost hit his truck while driving. Victim says him and the suspect exchanged words and the suspect pulled out a gun and shot him. Victim was transported by ambulance to FMC trauma center.

UPDATE from Flagstaff Police: The Flagstaff Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on Northwestern Street in Railroad Springs This area is closed for traffic as the investigation continues. Police are asking people avoid the area for the next several hours.

The incident appears to have stemmed from a road rage type altercation. Police are searching for a white male approximately 70 years old. He was further described as a proximally 5’8″ tall and 180 pounds with gray hair and possibly a goatee. He may be driving a green three door Toyota Tacoma.
