UPDATE FROM FFD:
On May 16, 2016 at approximately 11:30 a.m. several units from the Flagstaff Fire Department along with the USFS responded to the wooded area behind an apartment complex located on Cortland Blvd. for a report of a wildfire.

First arriving crews arrived to find a wind driven fire burning up the slope of the hill with some tree tops torching. Crews from both agencies worked together to quickly get a hand line and wet line around the perimeter of the fire which was ¼ acre in size.
This fire appears to have been human caused and is currently under investigation. The FFD would like to remind the community to report any suspicious activity observed in the wooded areas in and around the city limits.
