DELAYED: Pursuit across Butler Friday afternoon

August 18th, 2017 at 11:54 PM

At approximately 3:50 Friday afternoon, Flagstaff Police was called to a report of criminal damage in progress. Per scanner traffic, reporting parties called police saying that a male was damaging multiple vehicles and motorcycles with a shovel. The suspect left the scene in a grey Kia Optima, with out-of-state plates, and proceeded to lead police in a pursuit across Butler Avenue. The suspect maintained speeds of 15-25 mph  and obeyed traffic laws. Police followed with lights and sirens and gave verbal commands over the PA system. After the suspect failed to follow commands, stop-sticks were deployed twice to get the vehicle to stop. The pursuit ended in the 1300 block of east Butler Avenue about ten-minutes after the initial call. Butler was quickly opened back up. One suspect was detained and no injuries were reported.
