The Flagstaff Police Department is investigating the death of Kanosh Smith, 39 years of age, of Flagstaff AZ.
On November 4, 2017 at approximately 10:03 AM Officers with the Flagstaff Police Department responded to the railroad tracks in the area of Mall Way and East Route 66 in reference to a collision between a pedestrian and a train. Officer learned that Kanosh Smith was laying in the fetal position as the travelled westbound. The engineer sounded the horn and the subject raised his head and one arm before being hit by the train. There is some information to indicate Mr. Smith intentionally placed himself on the tracks.
Mr. Kanosh Smith was pronounced deceased on scene and transported to Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office.

At approximately 10:00 am this morning, Flag PD and medics responded to the area of Mall Way and the train tracks for reports of a pedestrian that was hit by a train. A short time later, the pedestrian was located underneath the train near the mall. Initial reports indicate that the pedestrian was deceased upon arrival.
