On February 4th at approximately 10:00 PM (2200 HRS), A fatal crash occurred on Butler Avenue near Fourth Street in Flagstaff. The collision involved 2 vehicles. One vehicle, vehicle #1, appears to have crossed the center line and caused the other driver, vehicle #2, to take evasive measures. A passenger in vehicle #2 was injured and did not survive her injuries. She has been identified as 25 year old Monica Heckel of Phoenix, her next of kin has been notified. The other three occupants of vehicle #2 were injured and are currently in stable condition. The driver of vehicle #1 has been identified as 37 year old Joshua Ferrante of Flagstaff. He has been arrested and charged with the death of Monica. Impairment is believed to be a factor. Lab results are pending, and this is an ongoing investigation.
The Flagstaff Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is not seeking any additional suspects at this time.
