On March 17, 2017 at approximately 10:30pm the Flagstaff Fire Department responded a single unit to the wooded area behind the Water Treatment Plant located on Babbitt Dr. for a report of a large tree completely on fire. Arriving crew located the tree and an approximately 30’x30’ grass fire burning beneath the tree.
The on scene crew was able to extinguish the fire and keep it from spreading to nearby structures. This fire appears to have been human caused and is currently under investigation.
The Flagstaff Fire Dept. would like to remind the community to exercise caution when out in the wooded areas within the City limits, as warmer temperatures begin drying out the vegetation making them susceptible to ignition.
