Flagstaff Police investigating ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE that occurred last night

Flagstaff Police are investigating an attempted homicide that occurred last night at the Cedar Crest Apartments in Flagstaff. The call came in shortly after 10:30 pm last night (7/11/2019) for a possible shooting at 2251 N Izabel St, Flagstaff. 911 caller said they heard several gunshots coming from the parking lot and people screaming. A Hispanic male with a baseball hat driving black SUV  possibly a Chevy Trailblazer was seen leaving the scene after the shooting. When Officers arrived, they found one adult male had suffered several gunshot wounds. A perimeter was quickly established, but we have not received any reports that the suspect was apprehended. UPDATE 9:17 AM: The victim has been identified, but we are awaiting approval from Flagstaff Police to release it

UPDATE 9:56 AM: We just spoke with Detectives at Flagstaff Police. Flagstaff Police have amended the report they initially gave us. They are now saying the victim HAS NOT passed away. The report we originally received is below, but we have omitted the victim’s name.

UPDATE FROM FLAGSTAFF POLICE 12 PM:

Flagstaff, Ariz.- (July 12, 2019), On 07/11/2019, the victim parked his vehicle in the parking lot at the apartment complex located at 2251 N. Izabel. While parked, a dark-colored SUV with chrome door handles drove by the victim sitting in his vehicle and stopped. The driver of the suspect vehicle shot multiple rounds at the victim striking the victim multiple times. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated and released from the Flagstaff Medical Center. The initial investigation indicates the shooting was directed at the victim and his vehicle and does not appear to be a random incident. This investigation is on-going.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with facial hair and he appeared to be the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The suspect, in this case, has not been identified and the Flagstaff Police Department is asking for the public’s help. The attached photographs are of the suspect vehicle. On 07/14/2019 Flagstaff Police received a Silent Witness “tip” regarding the location of a suspect and vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting. Flagstaff Police Officers, working alongside GIITEM Detectives, conducted extensive hours of follow-up regarding the information received from Silent Witness and located a vehicle consistent with the description provided by the victim. In addition to a suspect vehicle, officers and detectives located the suspected shooter, identified as Isaac Garcia, 38, Flagstaff. Subsequent execution of search warrants led to the seizure of a firearm and other items of evidence. Mr. Garcia was arrested, without incident, and booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility for Assault-Drive by Shooting; Aggravated Assault–Deadly Weapon/Dangerous Instrument; Possession of a Weapon by a Prohibited Possessor; and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
