#fsFIRE : Christmas Families Program

January 4th, 2016 at 12:02 PM

Every year, the FFD selects a family that has fallen on hard times and adopts them for the Christmas holiday as part of our Christmas families program.  This year, the FFD was able to adopt two families for the holiday.  Both of the families were hard working ChristmasFamily1and Flagstaff locals who had suffered significant loses to their possessions from fires in their homes. Each of the families compiled a wish list of some desired or desperately needed items, and the FFD did its best to supply the family with as much of their wish list as possible.  Some of the items requested this year were a bed, pots and pans, warm clothing, diapers, a crib, bedding, and various toys.  With a little bit of hard work and some generous donations, the FFD was able to fulfill most all of the wish lists.

In addition to the Christmas families program, the FFD also participated in a Christmas Day visit to the Hozhoni campus.  This visit included giving  gifts to all of the Hozhoni students and they were delivered by Santa Claus who showed up in a big red fire engine rather than a sleigh.   Both of these charity programs were extremely well received, brought out a ton of smiles, and warmed the hearts of many.
