The Flagstaff Police Department (01-11-2016). The Flagstaff Police Department is pleased to announce it has received a grant from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety in the amount of $11,459.00 dollars to purchase radars for the improvement and enforcement traffic safety laws intended to reduce death, injury, property damage and to promote roadway safety; along with aggressive and distracted drivers. The Flagstaff Police Department will continue public awareness associated with the dangers of speeding, aggressive and distracted driving; while continuing to provide training and updates on traffic laws to the Flagstaff Police Department
Officers.
The second grant received is in the amount of $20,794.00 dollars to purchase one LED Message Board. This message board will be utilized for multiple functions. Some of these functions will include Special Notifications, Traffic Enforcement, and any other important motoring information such as snow traffic re routes.
The third grant received is in the amount of $5,000 dollars to purchase equipment for our bicycle patrol unit. These funds will be used to purchase bicycles, helmets and other accessories to help equip officers for various patrol areas in the City of Flagstaff. The Flagstaff Police Department has recognized the use of Bike Patrol as another way to enforce pedestrian and bicycle traffic along with vehicle traffic. We will continue to be proactive and educate our citizens by utilizing this equipment.
