I-17 is CLOSED Southbound Due to Serious Accident

7:30 PM: I-17 southbound CLOSED south of Munds Park. Below are some alternate routes off of I-40. SR 89A is not an option.

6:30 PM: According to the Arizona State Troopers and ADOT, one lane has been reopened on the southbound interstate 17 roughly 40 miles south of Flagstaff. The collison involves at least 7 vehicles, and one person has died. Still no word on when both lanes will reopen, but traffic is backed up nearly 30 miles. The switchbacks through 89A and Sedona are also stop and go due to heavy traffic from the detour as well as an accident near Slide Rock State Park.

According to ADOT and DPS, There is a full closure On Interstate 17, South-bound from mile post 300.0, 1.0 miles North of SR 179 (40 miles south of Flagstaff)

Early reports are that as many as 10 vehicles are involved in the collision and at least 1 person has very critical injuries.
