Update To Fatal I-40 Crash Near Twin Arrows

Yesterday afternoon, SFMD responded to a reported head on collision at MM 222 on Interstate 40. Deputies from Coconino County Sheriff’s Officeand Troopers from Arizona Department of Public Safety arrived on scene prior to EMS and advised there were possibly 2 patients and one deceased. SFMD and Guardian Medical Transport arrived on scene and began triage. The deceased patient required extensive extrication from the vehicle. The driver of the semi was I injured. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Thanks to Navajo Nation Fire who assisted on the scene.

SFMD would like to remind drivers to stay alert while driving.



I-40 East Bound near Twin Arrows casino is closed due to a fatal accident involving a passenger car and a semi at milepost 223. ADOT officials do not have any word as of right now as to when they expect to reopen the road. At this time the driver of the passenger car has died. No further information at this time.
