UPDATE! Man posing as Police Officer sexually assaults Flagstaff woman

UPDATE from Flagstaff Police 8/17/2016: 

During the early morning hours of Sunday 8/14/2016, a male subject contacted the female victim near the 200 block of E. Birch Ave in Flagstaff, AZ.  The victim and a witness were seated in their car parked. The suspect approached on foot and presented himself as a police officer.  Using this ruse directed the victim to a secluded area where he sexually assaulted her.

Attached you will find a copy of the composite sketch completed today by the witness.  This is a sketch and NOT a photograph of the suspect. This sketch was completed from a witness’ memory. Please remember if you identify anyone that resembles the sketch inform the Flagstaff Police Department even if it is not an exact match.

ORIGINAL POST: During the early morning hours of Sunday 8/14/2016, a male subject contacted the female victim near the 200 block of E. Birch Ave in Flagstaff, AZ.  The victim and a witness were seated in their car parked. The suspect approached on foot and presented himself as a police officer.  Using this ruse directed the victim to a secluded area where he sexually assaulted her.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’10”- 5’11” with a muscular build, possibly wearing blue jeans, glasses and a baseball cap with the word “POLICE” on it. A witness also described him as having a black strap or stripe across his shirt. The suspect was also reported to be carrying a large flashlight.

The Flagstaff Police Department is providing this information to the public so they may be aware of the incident and protect themselves. It is important to remember that Flagstaff Police Officers always carry a department issued police badge and identification card on their person when on duty. These will be presented upon request by citizens.
