Police investigating Sunnyside stabbing

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz (May 21, 2018)–The Flagstaff Police Department is investigating a stabbing that occurred at the 3000 block of North Rose Street. 

On 5-21-2018 at approximately 10:53 AM, the Flagstaff Police Department responded to the 3000 block of North Rose Street in reference to a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival a male stabbing victim was found with what appeared to be serious, but nonlife-threatening injuries. The suspect was described as a Native American female with a possible name of Rikki Verna. She was last seen wearing a brown dress. She fled the scene on foot. Other witnesses saw the suspect running in the area near Coconino High School where she asked a student for a ride. Coconino High School staff ordered a shelter in place after learning of the incident. The suspect is still outstanding.

This case is in its preliminary stages of the investigation and information is continuing to be developed.
