Prescribed burn planned for Flagstaff airport area

Flagstaff, Ariz., November 7, 2018, For Immediate Release — Flagstaff Fire Department fire managers are planning to reintroduce fire into the Ponderosa pine forest and reduce hazardous fuel accumulation on the city owned forested area next to the Airport.

The proposed area is immediately adjacent the Flagstaff Pulliam airport and is approximately 75 acres in size.

Smoke will be visible to motorists along Lake Mary Road, I-40, I-17 as well as residents of Flagstaff. Smoke may impact Ponderosa Trails and Pine Canyon neighborhoods.

Dependent upon weather conditions, this prescribed burn may be cancelled if conditions prove unsuitable.
