Update to fatal car vs. pedestrian collision in Flagstaff Tuesday evening.

UPDATE 9/21:

On 9/19/16 at approximately 6:55 PM Officers working patrol responded to the 1300 block of W. Rt. 66 in reference to a report of an injury collision involving a pedestrian and a white Chevrolet utility van. Upon arrival the pedestrian was identified as Mr. Darrell James, 52 years of age, of Flagstaff, Arizona. Mr. James was severely injured in the collision and was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center. Mr. James later died from the injuries he sustained in this incident.

Upon further investigation Officers learned that Mr. James was crossing the roadway at an area that did not have a designated crosswalk and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. As of this time and date this investigation is ongoing and investigators are verifying if other factors contributed to the cause of this collision.

ORIGINAL POST:

At 6:55 pm this evening, Flagstaff Police, Fire, and Medical were called to a very serious collision involving a car and a pedestrian near the intersection of West Route 66 and Woodlands Village Blvd. The vehicle was allegedly turning onto Rt66 from the Home Depot Parking lot, when it struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center in critical condition. We will not have any further info until it is provided to us from the police or fire department. We will post it here when they send it.
