Surveillance photos of Killip School Vandals

August 2nd, 2018 at 7:00 AM

The Flagstaff Police Department has arrested two juveniles in connections with the vandalism at Killip School and Mount Elden Middle School. Police had received tips from the public identifying the individuals from the photographs. Both juveniles later admitted responsibility for both incidents at Killip Elementary School and for Mount Elden Middle School.

Each of the juveniles were charged with three counts of Burglary, three counts of Aggravated Criminal Damage and one count of Interfering with an Educational Facility. Both suspects were booked into Coconino County Juvenile Detention Center.

The Flagstaff Police Department and the Flagstaff Unified School District would like to thank everyone who assisted with this investigation.

On the morning of 8/1/2018, staff from Killip Elementary School reported extensive damage to the building. Investigators arrived and collected evidence including video surveillance. Images were obtained of the individuals involved and are attached to this release. A local resident reported having heard the sound of glass breaking in the area of Mount Elden Middle School. Deputies from Coconino County Sheriff’s Office and Flagstaff Police Department responded and learned this school had also been broken into and damaged. Evidence was collected at this scene as well.

This is the second incident like this at Killip Elementary School within the week. This incident caused the school to be closed for the day preventing the education of its students and the ability of the food service programs to feed the children who attend their programs.

This investigation is in its early stages and all available leads and evidence are being evaluated and followed up on. The Flagstaff Police Department is requesting assistance in identifying the people responsible for these crimes. Southwest Food Service Excellence (SFE) has offered a reward for up to $1,000.00 for tips provided to the police that lead to the identification or arrest of the individuals responsible for these crimes.

If you have any information or leads in reference to these reports please contact the Flagstaff Police Department at (928)774-1414 or Silent Witness at (928)774-6111.
