On Sunday afternoon May 22nd multiple fire agencies responded to three separate fires all reported within an hour of one another. The first two incidents were located just north of Doney Park in the Cinder Lake OHV area just east of the Flagstaff City Dump. Fire number 3 was located in Picture Canyon just within the city limits behind the wastewater treatment plant in east Flagstaff. Between the three incidents personnel from Summit Fire and Medical Department, Flagstaff Fire Department and USFS were involved in the containing of these wildfires. All three were contained to less than 5 acres. The cause of these fires are suspicious in nature but unknown at this time and are currently under investigation. There were no firefighter injuries reported. With summer right around the corner SFMD would like to remind everyone that prior to leaving your campfire or backyard fire that it’s not only out but cold and out.
