At approximately 2:45 pm on Sunday June 4, 2017 the Flagstaff Fire Department responded to the wooded area off Route 66 for a report of a wildfire. Crews on scene encountered a wildfire burning an area approximately 2/10 of an acre.
FFD crews were assisted by the USFS and the Snake River Hotshot Crew from Pocatello, ID. The fire was caused by an unattended transient campfire. Evidence found at the scene was turned over to the Flagstaff Police Department for further investigation into who may have been responsible for the fire.

No structures were threatened and no injuries were sustained to firefighting personnel or civilians. The FFD would like the communities help in reporting any suspicious activity taking place in the wooded areas in and around the city limits
