Wildfire in Parks Thursday

April 20th, 2018 at 7:17 AM

At approximately 1:20p.m. Thursday afternoon, Ponderosa Fire District responded to a wildland fire at Wild Bill and Humphries in Parks. The strong winds prevented firefighters from getting it contained immediately but it is now 100% contained at 1.8 acres. All structures were saved, only property damage which consisted of a UTV that is a total loss. The cause is still undetermined. We would like to thank Camp Navajo Fire Department, Kaibab Forest Service, Coconino County Sheriffs Office and Guardian Medical Transport for their quick response and mutual aid efforts. With these strong winds and dry weather we would like to remind everyone that these fires spread fast and can be prevented. One less spark! https://wildlandfire.az.gov/prevention_news.asp
