FLAGSTAFF POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE

FLAGSTAFF, AZ. – State and Federal Officers were conducting a joint operation inside the city of Flagstaff.  The Flagstaff Police Department was not involved in this operation.  During the operation, there was an Officer Involved Shooting between 6th Avenue and Colanthe Street on Izabel Street.  The FBI is investigating the shooting involving the US Marshal’s Office.  There is no ongoing threat to the public.  The US Marshal’s Office will issue a statement in the near future.

The Flagstaff Police Department is on scene to assist with the street closures and equipment.  Please avoid this area, as it will be closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.


US MARSHALS SERVICE PRESS RELEASE

Flagstaff, AZ. – Late this afternoon in the 2200 block of Izabel Street in Flagstaff, AZ, Deputy United States Marshals in joint operations with state and federal agencies were involved in an officer-involved shooting resulting in a fatality.

Deputies were involved in a multi-agency enforcement operation and were attempting to arrest the subject when a handgun was produced. Deputies fired at the subject, striking him. Life saving measures were attempted; however, the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. No officers or civilians were injured during this incident.

The investigation of this incident is being handled by the FBI Phoenix Office.

The Arizona WANTED Violent Offender Task Force is a U.S. Marshals Service led multi-jurisdictional fugitive apprehension unit responsible for more than 1748 arrests in the last year. The task force is comprised of 22 agencies bringing together the resources of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to locate and arrest the community’s most violent offenders and sexual predators.
