UPDATE FROM FLAGSTAFF FD: “Last night at approximately 10:35 p.m., the Flagstaff Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire. Initially, three fire units and one battalion chief were dispatched. However, upon their arrival, Flagstaff Police Department officers reported that the structure was fully involved, prompting an upgrade to a first alarm response. A total of six Flagstaff Fire Department crews, 1 Flagstaff Fire Battalion Chief and 1 Summit Fire Battalion Chief, arrived on scene. Fortunately, all occupants had safely evacuated before fire crews arrived. The fire was primarily located on the exterior of the structure. Firefighters acted quickly and aggressively, deploying three hose lines to suppress the flames. Their swift response prevented the fire from extending into the interior of the home, successfully containing the majority of the damage to the exterior. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.”

At 10:42 PM Saturday evening, Flagstaff Fire Department, Summit FD, GMT, and Flagstaff Police were dispatched to a structure fire in the 2000 block of N 2nd St. Flagstaff Engine 3 was the first engine on the scene and reported heavy smoke and fire coming from a small single story residential home. The incident was immediately upgraded to a first alarm assignment, which assigned several more engines. Engine 3 also quickly pulled a water line and began attacking the fire in an offensive strategy.
As additional units arrived, an interior crew was assembled to check for occupants. Utilities were disconnected by another team. Good knockdown of the fire was achieved within 4 minutes of the first engine arriving. Firefighters worked for over an hour to completely put the fire out and conduct mop up operations. Summit FD covered Flagstaff Fire Stations during this incident. Investigators were on the scene throughout the evening, but a cause has not been made public yet. An all clear of the interior was made shortly after 11 pm. Additional updates will be provided on this page once we hear from Flagstaff FD.
