FLAGSTAFF, Ariz – The Arizona Department of Transportation, City of Flagstaff and their contractors are currently working on two projects along Cedar Avenue. We are happy to report that both projects are on schedule, with Cedar Avenue scheduled to be open to vehicular traffic (at Monte Vista Drive/Main Street and Fourth Street) by Monday, August 4. Please note that pedestrian access through the intersection will be restricted and the existing pedestrian detours will remain in the Fourth Street and Cedar Avenue/Lockett Road intersection as crews work to finish sidewalk and roundabout crossings over the next few weeks. Pedestrians are asked to follow the marked signage to get to their destination.

We appreciate your support and patience while we work to improve our City’s infrastructure. For questions and additional project information, call the project hotline at (928) 255-5153.

Fourth-Lockett Roundabout Project Information

The Fourth-Lockett Roundabout Project involved constructing a new roundabout that replaced the signalized intersection at Fourth Street and Cedar Avenue/Lockett Road to improve the safety and function of the intersection. This new roundabout was constructed with flashing pedestrian crossing beacons and will slow speeds, help avoid angle collisions and add a crosswalk at the fourth-leg of the intersection. Additional work included the installation of water, sewer and storm drain infrastructure. Miscellaneous concrete, electrical and landscape work remains, with full project completion scheduled for Fall 2025.
