Have you ever wondered how the local justice system truly operates? The Criminal Justice Coordination Council (CJCC) is opening its doors to the community with the CJCC Citizen’s Academy, a four-week educational series that offers residents a behind-the-scenes look at the people and processes shaping justice in Coconino County.
This free, four-session program runs every Wednesday evening in February 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at 110 E. Cherry Ave., Suite 3. Each session will feature engaging discussions with local judges, the Clerk of the Courts, adult probation officers, and Flagstaff City officials.
Participants will learn about a variety of topics:
-
February 4: Understanding Our Courts
-
February 11: Who’s Who in the Justice System
-
February 18: Sentencing and Second Chances
-
February 25: Real-World Case Study + Q&A
The Citizen’s Academy is designed to provide a relaxed, interactive environment where residents can ask questions, explore real cases, and gain firsthand understanding of how justice is administered in their community.
Those who complete all four sessions will be recognized at a Coconino County Board of Supervisors meeting and receive a certificate of completion.
Spaces are limited, and participants must be 18 years or older. The deadline to apply is January 15, 2026.
For anyone curious about local government, law, or public service, this is a valuable opportunity to engage, learn, and connect with the professionals who serve our community.
