FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The City of Flagstaff is inviting residents to apply for its newly formed Technology Privacy Task Force, a 10-member group that will play a key role in shaping how the City uses, manages, and safeguards digital information.
The task force will be responsible for reviewing existing City technology policies, evaluating proposals for new technology, and providing critical recommendations aimed at strengthening data privacy protections for Flagstaff residents. Members will help ensure that government use of technology remains responsible, transparent, and aligned with community values.
City officials say they are committed to building a task force that reflects the full diversity of Flagstaff. Applicants do not need to be technology experts to be considered. Instead, the City is seeking a broad mix of perspectives, backgrounds, and lived experiences.
Individuals are strongly encouraged to apply if they identify with any of the following:
-
Advocates for civil liberties or vulnerable populations
-
Local business owners
-
Professionals in technology, IT, or cybersecurity
-
Legal or policy experts
-
Residents passionate about digital rights, transparency, and civic engagement
Applications are open now through Friday, Dec. 5, 2025.
A selection committee will begin reviewing applications the week of December 8, with plans to hold the first task force meeting in January 2026.
Residents can apply using the City’s official online application form: Apply for the Technology Privacy Task Force
Flagscanner will continue to follow this initiative as the City works to ensure responsible and community-driven oversight of emerging technologies.
