BREAKING: Westbound I-40 Closed East of Flagstaff Following Multiple Crashes

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — At 7:46 a.m., multiple agencies responded to a series of serious crashes along Interstate 40 westbound, approximately 23 miles east of Flagstaff near the Buffalo Range Rd.

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS), Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), and emergency medical services are all on scene.

Westbound I-40 has been shut down due to the severity of at least one of the crashes. CCSO has advised that the closure is expected to remain in place for an extended period of time.

A medical helicopter has been launched to assist with patient transport. Authorities report that at least one person is trapped inside a vehicle.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Significant delays should be expected.
