9:30 AM Flagstaff police and Fire are responding to the area of the Walmart on E Huntington Dr for an individual observed starting fires in a nearby field. Suspect is a Black female wearing a pink shirt. She is now driving away in a dark Chevy Malibu. Fire crews are also reporting seeing a smoke plume. Updates will be below.
UPDATE 9:34 am Fire department is on scene. This is near the Walmart and is burning between there and the freeway. 1/8 acre on fire with torching. Slow rate of spread. Police are still searching for the suspect. She matches the description of a suspect in an incident last night as well.
UPDATE 9:40 AM Officers are behind the suspect vehicle now at Walmart. Fire crews are establishing a line around the fire and say they do NOT need additional resources. Full containment expected soon.
UPDATE 9:53 AM Fire is out and suspect is in police custody.
