FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — A Flagstaff man has been sentenced to six years in the Arizona Department of Corrections following a February incident involving repeated gunfire and an armed confrontation with law enforcement.
According to the Coconino County Attorney’s Office, officers responded on February 12, 2026, to numerous 911 calls reporting repeated gunfire near University Avenue.
Responding officers also reportedly heard multiple gunshots and encountered Patrick Yellowhair, who was armed with a handgun. Authorities said Yellowhair was observed pointing the firearm in the direction of law enforcement officers.
Investigators later recovered numerous shell casings from the area. Portions of the incident were also captured on video by civilians.
Despite the number of shots reportedly fired during the incident, no injuries were reported.
The County Attorney’s Office said Yellowhair later pleaded guilty to Discharge of a Firearm at a Structure and Aggravated Assault Against Law Enforcement.
Yellowhair was sentenced to six years in the Arizona Department of Corrections, followed by five years of intensive probation.
In announcing the sentence, the Coconino County Attorney’s Office thanked the law enforcement officers who responded to the incident and cited the risks they faced while protecting the surrounding community.
