Public Input Sought on Wildfire Protection Plan for Flagstaff, Sedona and Surrounding Communities

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Residents throughout the greater Flagstaff and Sedona areas are being encouraged to help shape the region’s wildfire preparedness efforts by providing feedback on the draft 2027 Greater Peaks and Red Rocks Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP).

The plan focuses on reducing wildfire risks, improving community safety, and protecting homes, lives, and natural resources throughout northern Arizona. Public feedback will help officials identify local concerns, establish priorities, and ensure the updated plan addresses the needs of communities vulnerable to wildfires.

Residents in the following communities are encouraged to participate:

  • Baderville/Fort Valley
  • Bellemont
  • Cosnino/Winona
  • Doney Park
  • Flagstaff
  • Happy Jack
  • Kachina Village
  • Mormon Lake
  • Mountain View Ranches
  • Mountainaire
  • Munds Park
  • Parks
  • Sedona
  • Timberline-Fernwood
  • Village of Oak Creek

The Community Wildfire Protection Plan is a collaborative effort involving the Flagstaff Fire Department, the City of Sedona, neighboring fire departments and fire districts, and SWCA Environmental Consultants.

The updated plan is intended to identify areas of wildfire vulnerability and guide efforts to reduce potential damage while strengthening the region’s ability to prepare for and respond to future wildfire emergencies.

Residents have until Friday, November 20, 2026, to review the draft plan and submit their comments.

The draft plan, additional project information, and public feedback opportunities are available at:
