Flagstaff Police Partner with Family Food Center for Thanksgiving Turkey Drive

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The Flagstaff Police Department is teaming up with the Flagstaff Family Food Center to help ensure more Northern Arizona families have a turkey on their Thanksgiving table this holiday season.

Beginning Thursday, November 5, and continuing through Thursday, November 19, community members are encouraged to donate frozen turkeys to support local families experiencing food insecurity.

Donations can be dropped off at the Flagstaff Police Department, located at 911 E. Sawmill Road, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The department will not accept drop-offs during its lunch closure from 11 a.m. to noon.

All donated turkeys will go toward the Flagstaff Family Food Center’s holiday food assistance efforts, helping families who may otherwise struggle to afford a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

“Serving our community goes beyond responding to calls,” said Sgt. Jerry Rintala of the Flagstaff Police Department. “This is an opportunity for our officers and residents to come together, support local families, and make a meaningful difference this Thanksgiving.”

The Flagstaff Family Food Center serves thousands of Northern Arizona residents through its community kitchen, food distributions, food rescue programs, and partnerships throughout the region.

With many households facing financial challenges, the cost of preparing a Thanksgiving meal can add an additional burden to already strained budgets. Organizers hope the turkey drive will help ease that burden and give more families an opportunity to celebrate the holiday together.

“We’re grateful to the Flagstaff Police Department for partnering with us and to every person who contributes,” said Ceara Chirovsky, Senior Vice President of Flagstaff Family Food Center. “Every turkey represents a family that gets to celebrate the holiday with a little less worry.”

Residents, local businesses, neighborhood groups, and community organizations are all encouraged to participate. Whether donating a single frozen turkey or organizing a larger collection among coworkers, friends, or neighbors, every contribution will help support a local family this Thanksgiving.
