Another major snowstorm is expected tonight through the weekend. Interstate closures anticipated this evening.

From the National weather service in Flagstaff: Northern AZ is going to get slammed again with a Winter Storm Warning in effect for much of Coconino and Yavapai counties through 8:00 AM Friday. The most treacherous conditions will be Thursday evening from roughly 5 to 11 PM with strong winds, heavy snowfall and accumulation, and whiteout conditions expected. This system will primarily impact northwestern Arizona. A few to scattered showers will linger Friday afternoon into Saturday. By Saturday afternoon, another storm system will arrive. This system will be a bit warmer initially with higher elevation snow and valley rain. As the current forecast stands, we will finally be able to catch our breath by Monday. That said, an unsettled pattern continues through the forecast period. From ADOT: “If weather conditions continue to deteriorate, highways like I-17 and I-40 will likely be closed again by early evening.”
