FPD Update: Fatal Train vs. Pedestrian This Morning. Victim Identified.



UPDATE FROM Flagstaff Police: FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — September 30, 2024 — At approximately 4:54 AM, Flagstaff Police Department officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a train near S Beaver St and E Route 66 at the train tracks. BNSF Railway employees initially reported the incident.

Upon arrival, officers found the individual deceased at the scene. The victim, a male, has been identified as Bernard Bruchhauser Junior, 50, of Mesa, AZ.

The Flagstaff Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with questions or additional information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact the Flagstaff Police Department at 928-774-1414 or Silent Witness at 928-774-6111.

The Flagstaff Police Department reminds the public that it is both unlawful and dangerous for pedestrians to be on railroad tracks except at designated crossings. Please use crossings safely and adhere to all safety guidelines.

FS ORIGINAL POST: Shortly before 5am this morning, Flagstaff Police and EMS were called to the area of Beaver and Route 66 for a person that was hit by a passing train. When they arrived they found the victim roughly 10 yards from the intersection. The victim was declared deceased on the scene. We will have an official update from Flagstaff Police later in the day.
