UPDATE: Fatal Train Vs Pedestrian just occurred in Flagstaff

FLAGSTAFF, Az. – On October 20th, 2023, at approximately 5:39 pm The Flagstaff Police Department responded to the area east of the intersection of Ponderosa Pkwy and the railroad tracks for a report of collision involving a train and pedestrian. A male was hit by an eastbound train at the intersection and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The railroad traffic control devices were activated at the time of the collision.

Officers arrived on scene and located the male decedent, identified as Stacey Menold, 53, of Flagstaff.

The Flagstaff Police Department would like to remind everyone that it is unlawful and unsafe for pedestrians to be on railroad tracks unless at crossings and utilizing them safely.

5:41 PM Flagstaff police and EMS are responding to the area of Ponderosa and Route 66 for a train that hit a pedestrian. The conductor and PD are saying the pedestrian is deceased on the scene. There are several intersections blocked as a result and the train is stopped.
