<p data-pm-slice="1 1 []"><strong>FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. —</strong> A woman was seriously injured early Saturday morning after being struck by a BNSF train near San Francisco Street and East Route 66 in Flagstaff.</p>
At approximately <strong>5:40 a.m. Saturday</strong>, a BNSF train conductor called 911 and reported that the train had struck a female pedestrian who was on the railroad tracks.

Flagstaff Police officers were among the first emergency personnel to arrive and located the woman on the south side of the tracks. She was breathing but had sustained serious injuries.

Emergency crews worked to access and extricate the woman from the area while law enforcement began investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

The BNSF train remained stopped for a period of time while emergency crews treated the patient and investigators worked at the scene.

The woman was transported by ambulance to <strong>Flagstaff Medical Center</strong>, where she was taken to the trauma center for treatment.

Her current condition has not been released.

The circumstances surrounding why the woman was on the tracks remain under investigation.
