Special Weather Statement issued August 11 at 2:59PM MST by NWS Flagstaff AZ
Area: Western Mogollon Rim
At 259 PM MST, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Mt Elden Estates, or over Flagstaff, moving northeast at 10 mph.
HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include…
Flagstaff, Country Club, Doney Park, Sunnyside, Downtown Flagstaff,
Fort Valley, Cheshire, Coconino Estates, Mt Elden Estates, Macann
Estates, Mt. Elden, Dry Lake Hills, Schultz Pass, Inner Basin, East
Flagstaff, Elden Pueblo, Cheshire Park, Little Elden Springs and
Kachina Peaks Wilderness.
This includes the following highways…
Interstate 40 between mile markers 198 and 201. U.S. Highway 89
between mile markers 419 and 422. Route 66 between mile markers 196
and 201. Highway 180 between mile markers 217 and 222.
This includes the following recreation areas and campgrounds…
Ponderosa Trails Park, Thorpe Park, Wheeler Park, Buffalo Park,
McPherson Park, Bushmaster Park and Picture Canyon Preserve.
Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening
weather conditions.
