3:32 PM CCSO Deputies and EMS are responding to the area of Silver Saddle and Highway 89 for a stabbing that just occurred. The suspect is possibly in a nearby campground. He is described as a Native American male in his 30s possibly wearing dark clothing. Update: CCSO and EMS are also responding to Forest service Rd 545 near Bonito Campground possibly for a possible second person stabbed.

Update: Deputies were in a foot chase with the suspect in the area of Girls Ranch Rd when they lost sight of him. If you are in that area, lock your doors and stay inside. Additional resources are responding as well as a DPS helicopter.

UPDATE 4:48 PM: CCSO HAS ASKED FLAGSCANNER TO PUT OUT THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION: a search is underway for a potentially armed and dangerous suspect wanted for questioning in an earlier assault. The suspect was last seen in the area of Girls Ranch Rd. He is described as an adult native American male standing between 5 foot eight and 5 foot 10 wearing a backpack, blue bandanna, black top, black shorts. If seen, do not approach. Call 911 immediately.

UPDATE 5:16 PM The suspect has been located and apprehended by law enforcement.

UPDATE 5:37 PM: UPDATE: In a rather unusual twist of events… It sounds like the suspect CCSO has in custody is NOT the right person. Radio traffic indicates the person they have in custody was running only because he had an outstanding warrant, and is NOT connected to this incident. Helicopter and units are back enroute

Final update: CCSO has informed us that the actual suspect in the stabbing has now been apprehended. Press release will be sent tomorrow and we will share it on the flagscanner.com website. There is no further threat to the surrounding community.
