Train-Pedestrian death in Flagstaff. Latest information including victim identity

The Flagstaff Police Department is investigating a collision involving a train and pedestrian that occurred approximately 200 yards northeast of the intersection of E Route 66 and N Fanning Dr in Flagstaff on January 11th, 2023. A male was hit by a westbound train and was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

At approximately 6:32 PM, Flagstaff Police Officers responded to the area northeast of E. Route 66 and N Fanning Dr regarding a report of a male being hit by the train. Responding Officers arrived and located the male decedent, identified as Cecil Begay, 37, Flagstaff. The train was traveling westbound when the accident occurred.

Officers arrived on scene provided medical care until medical personal arrived.  Mr. Begay was pronounced deceased at 6:51 PM hours.

6:35 PM Flagstaff Police and EMS are responding to a report of a train that struck a pedestrian just east of Fanning adjacent to Industrial on the north side of the tracks. All train traffic is stopped. UPDATE: First responders have located the victim across from Pep Boys on the tracks. The Victim has very serious injuries. FINAL UPDATE: The victim has been declared deceased on the scene.
