FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Coconino County Emergency Management (CCEM) will conduct a countywide test of its Emergency Notification System on Monday, March 30 at 12 p.m., as part of ongoing disaster preparedness efforts.
Officials say the purpose of the test is to ensure the system remains an effective way to warn the public during emergencies. Messages sent during the test will clearly state that they are a TEST and that no action is required.
According to CCEM, test notifications will be delivered to wireless devices and email addresses that are registered in the system. Residents who have not yet signed up are encouraged to create a free Smart911 account ahead of the test. Those who are already registered are asked to review their account information to ensure it is accurate and up to date.
“This test is part of Coconino County’s continuing efforts to remain prepared for incidents that may impact our communities,” said Coconino County Emergency Management Director Tim Carter. “Emergency notifications are a critical way we can quickly deliver life safety information.”
In the event of inclement weather anywhere in the county, the test will be rescheduled.
