FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Motorists can now get real-time data about conditions affecting travel on Coconino County roads on AZ511.gov, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) Arizona Traveler Information website.
Coconino County can upload real-time data regarding construction work, weather-related closures, special events, and emergency situations to the website using Travel-IQ, which is the Advanced Traveler Information System (ATIS) that also powers AZ511. The City of Flagstaff also uses Travel-IQ to publish information on AZ511 about city road construction and closures.
“Integrating County road data into the AZ511 system is a matter of public safety for motorists, cyclists, construction crews, and anyone else who might be on our roads,” said Christopher Tressler, Director of Coconino County Public Works. “Whether it’s a County construction project detour, a snowstorm closure on Stoneman Lake Road, a flood closure in Timberline, or a triathlon on Lake Mary Road, this is an essential tool that will help keep motorists aware and informed about the status of County roads so they can make better travel management decisions.”
ADOT launched the AZ511 traveler information system in 2002 primarily for freeways and airports in Phoenix and Tucson. Since then, the system expanded to offer comprehensive statewide coverage, including details on road conditions, travel times, construction updates, and alerts for incidents such as crashes and severe weather.
County road information on AZ511.gov can also be accessed at www.coconino.az.gov/CountyRoadStatusMap. An AZ511 mobile app is also available that gives drivers real-time information about their routes by entering their destinations. Travelers may also save regularly used routes and receive alerts along those routes.
The Travel-IQ ATIS was developed by Arcadis, a global design and consultancy firm specializing in infrastructure and mobility solutions. As Arcadis’ flagship digital product, Travel-IQ enables public agencies to efficiently report and manage travel-impacting events like roadwork, accidents, weather related conditions, and special events.
