Flagstaff Police Department to Participate in 9/11 Memorial Ceremonies

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — September 11, 2024 — The Flagstaff Police Department will honor and remember the victims of the September 11, 2001, attacks with a series of memorial events on the 23rd anniversary of the tragedy.

The first ceremony will commence at 6:55 AM at Flagstaff City Hall, where a memorial service will take place at the flagpole. Community members are invited to join in reflecting and paying tribute to the victims and heroes of that fateful day.

At 9:00 AM, the Flagstaff Police Department Honor Guard and Command Staff will participate in a memorial event organized by Flags for the Flagless. This ceremony will occur at a small park on W Route 66, east of the underpass on the south side, where a flag will be raised on a flagpole that has not displayed a flag in several years.  This location is one of nine locations across the community where flags are being raised at 9:00 AM on vacant flagpoles by various community groups and businesses.

Following this, participants from Flags for the Flagless will gather at Heritage Square at 9:30 AM for a community assembly.
