FLAGSTAFF, Ariz – The Lone Tree Corridor Project will begin construction on Tuesday, Feb. 18. Work will include:

  • Removal and replacement of roadway, sidewalk, curb/gutter, medians, and Flagstaff Urban Trail System (FUTS) facilities.
  • Widening of Lone Tree Road.
  • Installation of fully protected traffic intersections that provide safety and separation between bicycle use, pedestrian use, and vehicles.
  • Relocations and upgrade of utilities and traffic signals.

Work will occur on Butler Avenue between O’Leary Street and Lumber Street and on Lone Tree Road between Butler Avenue and O’Leary Street.

Bicycle, pedestrian, and vehicular traffic will encounter detours as construction proceeds. Traffic on Butler Avenue and Lone Tree Road will be reduced to one lane each direction during construction. Traffic delays are anticipated.

The Lone Tree Overpass will create a new north-south roadway connection extending Lone Tree Road between Butler Avenue to the south and Route 66 to the north. This new overpass will provide connectivity, traffic congestion relief on streets like Milton Road, San Francisco Street, and Beaver Street, and improve mobility to surrounding neighborhoods. The overpass connection will also complement the community’s need for multi-model options with bicycle and pedestrian access points connecting to the FUTS. The corridor construction is Phase I of the project.
