At around 645 last night deputies with the Coconino County Sheriff‘s office responded to the cinder hills OHV recreation area for a report of a sexual assault that took place. The assault was committed on a child by a family member. Before deputies arrived, the suspect, only described as a 27-year-old, Hispanic male wearing black shorts and a black shirt had fled the area and was armed with a handgun. A DPS helicopter was called in to assist with the search but as of this morning, the suspect has still not been found. Deputies with the assistance of other agencies are still actively searching for the suspect in the area. Deputies know the name of the individual but because it was not released in the press release, we are withholding it from this post.
