Flagstaff, AZ – On September 24, 2022 at approximately 10:30 AM Coconino County Sheriff’s Office received a call for a collision on Lake Mary Road at the intersection of Stoneman Lake Road. Fire/Medical Units from Mormon Lake Fire Department, Guardian Medical Transport, and Deputies responded immediately.
Upon arrival, it was found that the collision involved a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle. The motorcycle operator was unresponsive and had extensive injuries. Fire/Medical Personnel from Mormon Lake Fire Department immediately began resuscitation efforts upon their arrival. The motorcycle operator was later pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the passenger car was transported to the Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment.
Initial investigation indicates that the motorcycle was traveling south on Lake Mary Road. The passenger vehicle was turning northbound onto Lake Mary Road from Stoneman Lake Road when the collision occurred. CCSO Detectives trained in Collision Reconstruction as well as CCSO Deputies trained in drug recognition (DRE) responded to this incident to investigate. The circumstances behind the cause of the collision are still under investigation.
This collision resulted in Lake Mary Road being closed or restricted to one lane for approximately 4.5 hours.
At this point in time the collision remains under investigation by CCSO Detectives and Deputies. Further information will be available at a later date.
