FLAGSTAFF, AZ (June 5, 2025) – After several years of planning, securing grant funding, design, and construction, the new Mountain Line Downtown Connection Center (DCC) is set to open to the public on Monday, June 9 at 8 a.m.

Mountain Line’s Customer Service, Administrative, and Operations Support teams will be housed in the new facility at 216 W. Phoenix Ave. The current facility on Kaspar Dr. will close to the public at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 6, and customers should come to the DCC for all customer service needs, including pass sales, trip planning assistance, and lost and found. The DCC will be open to the public weekdays from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., excluding holidays.

The design and construction of the DCC was funded by nearly $28 million in Federal Transit Administration grants and an appropriation from the State of Arizona. Additionally, Mountain Line engaged in a lease for the property with the City of Flagstaff and used the value of the land as part of the local match required for federal funding, which lessened the financial burden on the local transit tax.

“We are proud to deliver a building that will serve as a warm welcome to Downtown Flagstaff,” said Mountain Line CEO and General Manager Heather Dalmolin. “We prioritized sustainability, efficiency, and keeping with the character of historic Southside to build a facility that will serve our riders, employees, and this community for years to come.”

The new DCC is an all-electric, mass timber building that features two City of Flagstaff Bed, Board, and Beverage (BBB) tax -funded public art projects, rooftop solar panels, a community room, and space for the Flagstaff Police Department. Construction of this building is Phase 1 of the overall DCC project, and Phase 2 will include 13 bus bays and a civic space once Rio de Flag flood mitigation work is completed in this area.

Mountain Line’s Kaspar Dr. facility will continue to serve as the agency’s maintenance and bus storage facility. Through a separate Federal Transit Administration grant, Mountain Line will begin construction on a new maintenance facility on this site later this year that will allow mechanics to safely and efficiently maintain the fleet.

Mountain Line is the transit agency in northern Arizona operating fixed route bus service on nine routes, paratransit service, vanpool, and seasonal Mountain Express service to Arizona Snowbowl.  www.mountainline.az.gov for more information.
