

This is a follow-up to the story we posted Saturday morning.
Statement from Flagstaff Police:
Flagstaff, Arizona – At approximately 12:30 AM on July 5, 2025, officers from the Flagstaff Police Department responded to a report of an individual being struck by a train just east of the intersection of East Route 66 and Switzer Canyon Blvd. Upon arrival, officers located the individual, identified as Lily Tantillo, 22, of Chandler, AZ who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Initial interviews with the train crew indicated that Ms. Tantillo was observed walking eastbound on the tracks, facing away from the oncoming eastbound train. The incident occurred in an area not designated for pedestrian use. Initial investigations revealed the use of the train’s horn was activated to alert her to the presence of the train.
The Flagstaff Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

FLAGSCANNER POST ON SATURDAY 7/5/2025
Just after 12:30 AM on Saturday, Flagstaff Police and emergency crews responded to reports of a person struck by a passing train near the Relax Inn, located on East Route 66 west of Ponderosa Parkway. Responding officers quickly located the individual near the tracks. Tragically, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
