FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Coconino Country Attorney Bill Ring has issued the following statement regarding yesterday’s sentencing of Charlie Malzahn:

“In October of 2017, Cathryn Gorospe went missing after posting a bond at the jail to gain the release of Charlie Malzahn. The victim was a schoolteacher and a kind person. Malzahn murdered her that night and proceeded on a statewide crime spree. These offenses are inexplicable, and the pain and anguish is immense. For his crimes, Mr. Malzahn will spend the rest of his natural life in prison. He will not threaten the community again. We thank the victim’s family for their participation and cooperation. We also thank the multiple law enforcement agencies for their concerted effort to bring Mr. Malzahn to the bar of justice.”
